In 2020, a new LeasePlan office was constructed on “The Corridor” along the A2 motorway near Breukelen. Designed by Bever Architects, the building’s design prioritized transparency and visibility as its core concepts. To achieve this vision, the architects employed an open structure with a steel frame and columns supporting a half-timbered roof. The roof, with its large overhang and integrated transparent façade panels, serves as a striking visual feature easily noticeable from the A2.
VML-Technologies was tasked with designing, manufacturing, and integrating an LED Media Façade solution that seamlessly blended into the folded structure of the transparent roof façade panels. Due to budget considerations, the design includes a lower-resolution center section flanked by two higher-resolution outer sections. Despite these constraints, the ultra-bright LED fixtures ensure visibility even during the day. The LED strips are discreetly embedded within the recessed vertical slots of the façade panels, maintaining the architectural integrity of the design.
Given the system’s proximity to the A2 highway, strict government regulations mandate that only static content can be displayed on the LED Media Façade to minimize distractions for drivers.
